Keyboard vs Controller

About this site

Every PC gamer has had the argument. You're three hours into a new game and someone insists you're playing it wrong. That a twin-stick roguelike was meant for a controller, or that no soul should attempt a tactics game without a mouse. keyboardvscontroller.com exists to settle it, one game at a time, with actual data instead of vibes.

What it does

Search for any game on Steam and you'll get a single, simple question: is it better with a keyboard & mouse or a controller? Cast your vote, and see how the rest of the community has weighed in. The split updates instantly, so a game's page is always a live snapshot of how people actually prefer to play it.

Why it exists

Steam tells you a game has "full controller support", but that's a technical checkbox. It doesn't tell you what feels right. A game can support a controller and still be far better with a mouse, or vice versa. Reviews bury the answer in paragraphs of prose. We wanted a single number you can check in five seconds before you start playing, backed by the people who've already put in the hours.

How voting works

  • Find a game, open its page, and pick the input you'd recommend.
  • Your vote is counted immediately and the percentages update on the spot.
  • It's one vote per game. We don't ask you to make an account, instead we keep a lightweight, anonymized fingerprint (a hash of your IP and browser, stored temporarily) just to stop the same person from stuffing the ballot. No emails, no tracking profiles, no nonsense.
  • Game names, cover art, and details come straight from the Steam store. This site isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Valve.

There's no wrong answer

Well, there might be, and that's the fun part. Play how you like. But if you've ever wondered whether you're missing out by sticking to your keyboard (or your controller), the numbers here are a good place to find out.
